Obituary for Sava Nadrljanski

June 4, 1940 - August 4, 2020
Stow, Massachusetts | Age 80

Loving Father and Husband

Sava Nadrljanski, age 80, of Stow MA passed away on Tuesday, August 4 2020 in Acton, MA after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to Gordana Nadrljanski, the love of his life. He was the loving and proud father of Dragana Nadrljanski of Littleton, MA and her husband Aaron Wall, whom he considered a son. He is survived by his younger sister Mirjana Jordovic, a retired architect, of Belgrade, Serbia, and many loving relatives and friends, locally and abroad.

Sava was born in former Yugoslavia, Serbia today, in 1940 to late Milivoj Nadrljanski, an attorney, and Nadezda Nadrljanski, a school teacher and homemaker. Early in life Sava developed a love for math, science, and foreign languages while also learning to play the piano. A top student in his class at the university, he was awarded a prestigious Siemens scholarship. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Belgrade he moved to Bosnia where he met and married his wife Gordana. He received Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Sarajevo. Sava and Gordana relocated to United Kingdom in the early nineties. They later moved to Mongolia, and eventually settled in the United States, finally reunited with their daughter and son in law. Sava spent most of his career working as a consultant in the Energy, Railroads, and Telecommunications industries. Throughout his career he mentored young engineers out of college many of whom would become his life-long grateful friends.

Sava was a devoted and loving husband and father. His greatest passions in life were his family and close friends. An avid traveler, he was fluent in French, German, and English. An introvert by nature, humble, patient, a true gentleman, adored by many, and not a fan of anything loud, Sava drew his energy from quiet times spent outdoors with his family, at a small cabin on a glacial lake an hour and a half outside of the city. At his spare time he enjoyed travelling, reading spy novels, watching spy/mystery movies, playing chess, préférence (a card game), and gardening.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Sava on Friday, August 7 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton, MA (exit 31 off Rt. 495, Littleton Common side). Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 8 at 1:00 pm at the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 41 Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge, MA 02140. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in memory of Sava may be made to the Massachusetts General Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (MIND):
